Washingtonian poses question to WaPo

Washingtonian blog, Capital Comment, recently asked "Can this geek save the Post?" This is an interesting--but brief--look into the person who has been given the challenge of turning the paper and its site around.

  1. Hi Matt,

Very interesting article. I got to visit WashingtonPost.com with my online journalism class at the University of Maryland.

I totally was surprised at the time, that the online staff strongly emphasized how they were DIFFERENT from the Washington Post.

It's natural to see how the digital department may clash with the actual news department. It happens in other news organizations too.

I don't agree with the article when it says it's a "desperate" move to hire someone to oversee the digital content at WaPo. It actually makes a lot of sense and helps to streamline the process.

At my newsroom, there is a manager of all things digital. He came on board less than a year ago and our website, wusa9.com, has made improvements leaps and bounds.
